Snow day!!

So snow.... when I was a kid I loved snow. Could play for hours never feeling even slightly cold. My kids however did not get that from me, THANK GOODNESS!! LOL Thursday we woke to a beautiful snow covered Keller. It was about an inch deep and above freezing so being from Oklahoma I thought we were gonna be fine. We walked to school like almost every morning. It was snowing and getting deeper but not a lot and it was still just slush in the streets. I felt confident that the weather person was crazy for thinking we would actually get much snow. I after all have lived in Oklahoma and Texas all my life. Weather people have the hardest job here cause they warn and it never happens. Just the way it is here. Don't like the weather...wait a minute its gonna change. Anyway, it was still snowing and not expected by aforementioned weather people to stop til midnight at the earliest. So we get the school early release call and email and canceled school for the next day notice and I raise an eyebrow. But quickly dismiss it and get ready for our long weekend of playing in the snow. All excited for snow days. So it snowed....and it snowed....and it snowed....have I mentioned that I live in Texas. It was getting deeper and deeper. When we walked across the street to get Lexi it was about 6 inches deep. That was from 8am til 11 am. We played for a bit and Lexi and Zach decided they were done with frozen fingers and went in. By 2 pm it was about 8 inches deep. I'm totally shocked at this time. Never in my life has it snowed for this long and this much at the same time. Its usually melting by this time. Anywho, so ya get the point....SNOW!!! We played for a bit and the kiddos were just so done with it. Poor Zman wouldn't even use his hands to get up. He'd just use his puppy dog eyes and whimper a little and someone would come running to pull him up. It was actually kinda cute. The snow ended up being about 10 to 12 inches deep. CRAZY!!

I actually learned a valuable lesson about jeans in all this snow play. I may look fabulous in my low rise skinny jeans but they are absolutely not for playing in the snow. The old, ugly mom jeans are perfect. Everyone should go out to goodwill now and buy one pair of mom jeans for playing with kids in the snow. Polly plumber was mooning everyone!! The moon may be cute to my sweet hubby but not necessary to show to the world!!

stuff..yada, yada, yada

So there hasn't been a post in like a fort night but we are still living. Life as a first grade, pre k and 2 year old mommy is a bit busy. Dealing with public school and all the joys of living in Tx seriously take a lot of time. (patience, endurance and soda) Although like some kind of crazy person I have given up soda for 10 weeks.......gasp!! Hopefully by then I can handle not getting my daily hit. Thanks Dr Oz and Angela G for ruining soda for me. Now when I do have some I feel total guilt. Anyway, enough about my crazy self.

Ethan is a stellar first grader. He's doing great in school but me, yeah I'm not doing so well. I love his teacher but the art teacher may get some tacks in her chair before the end of the year. His music teacher, who by the way seems very sweet, actually sent a note home yesterday saying that Ethan wasn't paying attention in class. That he was making noises in class and that she was worried about him not learning the songs for the play. WHAT?!?! A six year old boy not paying attention in class....does this even ever happen? Obviously not....she has clearly never seen such a thing. Not exactly sure what she expects me to do from here 5 hours after the incident but we did have a few conversations about respect and paying attention and yada, yada, yada...blah, blah, blah. Poor kid....I totally sound like Charlie Browns teacher to him I'm quite sure. He still manages to like school a lot even though he is the only six year old boy in the history of this elementary school that doesn't pay attention in music. K....hopping off the soap box for a few secs.... Michael Jackson is a fave and beat it and thriller are being sung more than I ever heard them in the 80's. BTW...this MJ deal is absolutely not my fault. His PE teacher teaches the kiddos stretches and this is the music she chooses. Its really cute though I must say. He knows the words better than I did in the 80's.

Lexi is totally loving school. She has grown up so much in the last few months. She's super smart and loves to read books and play and, and, and.... She's also 4 so she turns into Cybil randomly. Never fear though, she goes right back into that sweet little people pleaser almost as fast as she went out of it. She's really a lot of fun.

Grand Master Z on the other hand is hilarious. He's always cracking us up. He is now into Star Wars. He has light saber wars almost hourly. He will let you kill him first then you must be killed. Falling on the ground and all. I have started tongue wagging and dying noises as I fall lately which brings him great joy. He's a moose!! He and Ethan can wear the same size except in length. He loves nursery at church. In fact sacrament is lame in his world he get there and instantly wants to go to nursery. Ethan liked nursery fine and Lexi was okay with going but Zach LOVES it. He's quite the puzzle stud in there too. I'm not just braggin either, his teachers tell me how fab he is often. Its funny, people tell me that he looks like me when he's out with just me but when Ed's there they all say he looks like a mini Ed.

Ed is doing great in school. I'm sick of school but it really hasn't been that bad. 2 years has gone pretty quick. That being said if he even thinks of school again he will be walking around with whatever I can get my hands on to throw at him stuck in the side of his head. Just saying!!

So that's a quick catch up, I'll do better I promise.

3~09

We had a great spring break. We decided to do something fun everyday since we couldnt go to Okla. The first day we planned to go see the dino tracks in Glen Rose, I had heard alot about this place but we hadnt done it yet. The kiddos were so excited to go there. I called my gf Amy on the way and she FAILED to mention the scamosaurus attraction that we did first. Its not really her fault I just like to blame her. All the way there you keep seeing all these billboards advertising Dino World(shoulda been the first tip off) but the whole town seems to really take this dino deal serious. Now the tracks are there and all but everything in the town centers around a dino theme. The small town. It was just kinda funny to see all the uses of dinos. Anyway, after driving for what seems like hours *wink, wink* we finally round the corner to Dinosaur World. We've seen the sign....we're here....finally!!! We pull in and it seems a little commercial but hey, we're not driving anymore. Lets stay!!! We get in line to enter(cause thats what everyone else is doing) and when we get up there Ed says its a little more expensive than the website said but hey....we're not in the car so we do it anyway. By a little more expensive it was like $40 more. Kinda funny. But we had just driven forevahhhh and were not getting back in the car.

Very sunny day!!

Well after we realized we had been duped by the tourist attraction instead of the actual dino tracks we played, ate our picnic lunch and headed on to see what we had actually intended to see. It was literally about 100 feet to the real entrance of the state park. In our defense....it was around the corner and we had been in the car forevahhhhh. lol Worth $50, not so much but hey the kiddos had fun and I'm always in for that.
Here are some of the real tracks. Its a neat place really. You get to climb into a riverbed and cross rocks to see them. The kids LOVED that part. They really wanted to play in the water which we did for a bit. It was cold but the kiddos dont feel that, I still remember going on trips with gma and gpa to Colorado and "swimming" in the streams as much as they would let my crazy kid self.

The next day we went to Southlake library for storybook time. Thats a treat because mommy wont usually brave something like that 3 to 1. 2 on 3 is doable. The Southlake library is fabulous like every little thing in Southlake. When we got home we attacked the garage. Yes, I was cursing Garth....not because he had any crap in there because he has been at every garage cleaning ever and he was in Utah that day. Suck!! Our garage is so nice now, even without Garth's expertise we did it. While we were cleaning, a guy stopped to ask if we were getting ready for a garage sale and we of course were so he came back and bought $100 worth of our junk!! We love that dude. And he came back on the saturday and bought more. He really does like our junk!! ;)
Wednesday was set aside for the half price day at the zoo. I mentioned it to another person at Jazzercise the day before and she said she had done it last year on half price day and it was crazy so we were a little nervous about going but hey, we can do it!! So we get in the van all packed and ready with snacks and water and camera and everything else we can think of and we're off. We get literally about 10 minutes from home. Solidly on hwy 35 which is the devil's hwy in case none of you knew that. It is!! Anyway, we hit a monster traffic jam. Typical for that hwy!! So we sat, and we sat, and we moved 2 feet and we sat. This went on for about an hour. Fun for the whole fam lemme tell ya. After about an hour and a half of inching our way to Ft Worth zoo Ethan has to use the bathroom. OF COURSE!! So after I wipe the "no way are we getting off this hwy right now sucka, we'll never get back on again!!" look off my face. I look at Ed and say "we lost babe!! lets go to Keller Pointe instead!!" They have a fabulous indoor pool with lazy river, waterfalls, kids areas and a fabulous loopy slide!! We had so much fun!! The kiddos love to swim and Ethan is addicted to the slide. When we finally got home we were beat. We all slept soooooo good that night.
Thursday daddy got to go see all his Wamuians. I was still beat so I did Jazzercise and came home and just hung out with the kiddos. We ended up going to target, to make it fun I got some wonka candy. I can bribe Ethan with wonka anytime. He'll sit still in church for some wonka action. Its his crack. ;)
Friday was a movie day with daddy. Lexie and Ethan love to go to the feater(as Lexie would say) and watched Bolt. They all loved it. We now own it and watch it almost everyday. Ethan reenacts (is that the right word? jump in my head please and figure it out!!) the movie with doggy stuffed animals as much as possible. I have to say that better so far than listening to him sing...chewing, chewing all day long. He loves him some Violet from Charlie and the choc fact. Me? Not so much!!
Saturday was the garage sale but I had already commited to set up at Jazzercise so Ed had to go it alone with 3 kids. No childcare in saturdays. The kids did awesome. There were a few tears but overall it was great. Ethan was the greeter and would so graciously thank everyone. He also was a great salesman. He tried to sell everything to anyone. It was really cute. We sold all our big stuff and alot of little stuff too. Whatever didnt sell went to goodwill so that I didnt ever have to see it again.
We had a fabulous spring break!! I wish we coulda seen family but it was nice to not really have a schedule for an entire week. We have a great little family and all love being with each other. My kiddos rock!! My hubby is hot and he rocks too!!

Ethan is outa the will!!

descriptive hat day at school, Ethan's hat was creepy
The storybook parade, Ethan's book was Green Eggs and Ham

So, a few years ago when my sweet first born first started really talking I started getting him to say certain phrases before I give him something. The usual please and thank you, well I sooooo enjoyed this little moment that it turned into........Okay Ethan, who's the best mommy? from me of course.....then Ethan would chime in...You are mommy!! It was awesome!! So that worked so well that I really kept going with that one, Who's the prettiest mommy in the world? answer... you are mommy!!! All excited and cute. So today he really wanted a certain snack. Of course I begin my usual interrogation about how fab I am and he was smokin his way through the questions UNTIL I got to the prettiest mommy in the world. Yep, he almost lost his treat today for sure. He is all excited as he yelled Aunt Jessie is the prettiest mommy in the world!!!! What the.......did I just hear that right? LOL So I say, yes, she is pretty but who is giving you this fabulous treat my man? He looks confused. I say.....who's the prettiest mommy dang it. Being a perceptive little guy he immediately catches on to the whole mommy's the best game and of course receives his rewards. LOL He is really an amazing kiddo. Even if he does think aunt Jessie is the prettiest mommy in the world. He is reading fabulously and scored 100% on his reading test last week. He draws fabulous pix all day for me and now is labeling them too. GENIUS!! And so dang handsome!!

Ethan got to go to lunch in a Hummer limmo for a prize

Christmas 2008

I havent been in the mood for blogging lately but I think I'm back!! We'll see for how long, huh!! I'll try to go back before Christmas....Ok, so its near the beginning of Dec and we get a little knock at the door. I answer and no one is there. BUT, there are 2 bags with 6 boxes each of mac and cheese with a cute sign that says its from our secret friends. Well we get a little concerned because we're leaving for Okla on the last day of Ethan's school. If someones doing the 12 days for us, which is way sweet by the way, we'll miss about half of it. Somehow, our secret friends knew we were leaving and they doubled and tripled up on days for us. They were very creative and generous!! They totally knew our kids and what they liked. It was really fun. We got some cuddly blankets, oreo cakesters, toys, dvd's and more toys and fun stuff!! Anyway, that was way fun. We left our fave (central mkt) homemade marshmallows and some fancy hot choc for them one night for getting out in the cold to leave us a fun surprise. Gotta keep the gift givers warm!! ;)

Anyway, we left for Okla after Ethan got out of school on Friday before Christmas and had an absolute blast!! Props to Terina and Dave and boys of course for letting us reside at hotel Darcey!! Sorry about the bird by the way!! (hehehe, still not sure how that happened!!) We spent tons of time with aunt Jessie and company. The cousins were so much fun and Jessie and I of course had a slammin time as usual. I think Ed was there too. I'll check the pix, LOL j/k!! We all had a great time. If you're on facebook I have a whole photo album but I'll add a few here too. The pix on the header are from Christmas in Terina's fireplace.

The day we left we had made Zach wait til we were driving to take his first nap hoping that we would make it half or most of the way there by the time he was awake. Well, he slept, and he slept......and he slept. He would wake up and go right back down. It was strange but we thought it was maybe he was just really tired. He's never really been sick so that never entered our little heads. Well, by the time we got to Jessie and Chris's house he was fevering, of course. Its right before Christmas and we're out of town. Ahhhhhhhh!! Zach is totally a daddy's boy so when he's sick he only wants Ed. He was clinging to Ed like a spider monkey. As the night went on it was painfully obvious that he was more just a cold and being shy. Ed takes him the next morn to an emergency clinic(thank goodness for daddy!!) I slept in with the other kiddos! Zach had his first ear infection. It was so bad that the doc couldnt tell if his ear drum was perforated or not. He had so much gunk coming from his ear. Poor baby!! Anyway, $80 and no insurance later we got a fat bottle of the pink junk that heals anything and we were set. He was his cute self again almost right away!! Yeah for pink smelly meds!!

We had decided to do Christmas there but for Santa to also visit Texas too. So we got all the small fun stuff there and when we got back here Santa set up a huge bounce house in the living room for when the kiddos came in the living room it was like a mini jump for fun!! Ethan was the first to find it. He was so excited to get in and we had the balls that aunt Leona got for Zach inside. Aunt Leona rocks!! Overall we had a fantastic Christmas. Its awesome to have a long Christmas break with our fam!!

Here's a few pix....if you want to see more check out facebook. If you're not on facebook yet...sign up, dang it!! Facebook rocks!!
