June...ish update

So I suck at blogging. Just not my deal I guess. I enjoy reading blogs sometimes but still don't have/take the time much. blah, blah, blah!

Quick update on us. We are in the process of buying our first Omaha home. So excited!! Its brand spankin new, not that I really wanted that but this home is really nice and the right price. Well, its not free but other than that it looks good for us. The crappy realestate agent that "helped" us find this rental property seriously blew it for me. I knew from the moment I saw the location that he had lost our business. The house itself is a nice enough house. Its the location. First house right off a really busy loud street. When it snows, and we're in Nebraska so it snows a lot, the road crew scrapes the entrance of our neighborhood at about 4:30 to 5 amish. The entrance is right by our back yard, so every snow or icing we got the nice scraping sound was my alarm. It takes about 45 mins to clear out our entrance. Then, he crosses the road to clear the hood across Q street from us. And it all starts again. :) Funny, I care very little about people's safety at 4:30 in the morning.

Okay, so Ethan did very well in 2nd grade. He got an amazing teacher which didn't look at me like I had 3 eyes when I was freaked about whatever. She was great with E, and loved him. He made some good friends this year. His grades were amazing considering how little focus he has. He started Tae kwon do and has already advanced to yellow belt. The teachers/leaders/dudes in jammies or whatever you call them are great with him. I do need to have a strategy meeting with them about getting him refocused because he doesnt respond well to "typical" prompts. It either has to be reward based or "come to Jesus". Just the way his brain works. He thinks he wants to be a composer, guess he needs some kind of music lessons. We're thinking about piano lessons for a start but always I'm nervous. Freak mom alert!!

Lexi did fabulous in Kindergarten. She loved it and learned a lot. She reads great although she questions herself a lot. She also made some cutie patootie friends. She's in TWD also and loves it. She's a tiger cub now but is gonna test to graduate and move on after her 6th birthday. She wants to take dance but we havent found a place yet or what kind of dance she'd like. Working on that one.

Grand master Z is a pill!! Its funny to see how different they all are. He's so sweet one minute then something sets him off and he can be so strong willed. He's selectively shy, a lot like his momma. He wakes up happy almost every day. He's totally a momma's boy lately which is funny because he was such a daddy's boy literally from the day he was born until the last year. He loved sunbeams the first half of the year but now is having a hard time sitting by other kids and being friendly. We're working on that. He has very sweet teachers so that should help.

Ed is shrinking right before my eye's. He would tell you that its not that big of deal but he's just being modest. He's lost about 50 pounds in the last several months. His cholesterol was a little high and he didnt want to take meds so he plays a ton of ball and eats all healthy n junk. He looks amazing!!! I'm hoping it rubs off on me...well not the weight just the healthy part. He's loving IBM and learning a lot.

Anywho...hopefully it wont be 8 months before we do this again. :)

Hello slackety slackernose!!

Here I sit in Omaha, NE. Its beautiful and people are so nice. Its creepy really, I keep waiting for a cameraman to jump out and say GOTCHA! Just had to get your reaction Val. I havent decided if they're so happy its not winter and that they can go outside or if they really are nice. Its so different than in that bubble that we lived in in Tx. I loved Tx dont get me wrong. But Tx was by far the hardest time of my life. I came to realize a lot that I didnt know about myself there and went through most it post partum. NOT a good combination!! When we got the job offer to move to TX we were super excited. We loved Dallas area and thats where we were married in that Temple. I have a lot of love for that Temple!!

Not really sure what or why I had to learn the way I did but I am grateful. By the end, 6 years later I am going to miss some of the people there. I loved Keller Harvel Elementary School. Those ladies are amazing!! Thats yet another HUGE hump that I'm not quite ready to talk about. I'm hoping that Reagan Elementary grows on me. Very nice people but the principle introduces herself to me the first day as Dr Nilson. Really, um the only reason you put a title on yourself as Dr when you are in fact not a Dr is pretentous. Just my opinion. The kids dont know what or why she's calling herself a Dr. She cant give them a perscription, she cant take care of them if they need surgery. Seems purely self important to me. She was nice. I totally respect schooling but seriously. Also the school's not set up for parents at all. Like they dont want us to be there. Just give us your kids and tax dollars and get the hell out. All the kids ride the bus. Theres not even a drop off line. Not much parking and if you do want to get your kids after school they just let them go in front of the school after school's out. That is unless you ride the bus, where you get a personal escort. Its strange, you'd think that a Ms Dr Principal would be able to figure out a better system than that.

The ward seems great. Everyone seems so friendly, truely friendly not just the obligitory hello on Sunday if you make eye contact that I was used to. I dont feel like I'm being sized up if I'm worthy or interesting enough to get to know. The bishop is super nice and the Primary Presidency seems great too. One of the counselors that I talked to about big E watched a show about kids like him to get to know more about it. WHAT!! I was like...I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! Seriously seems like its gonna be a great ward.

We are renting a fabulous house. Well, except that the master br is upstairs. I HATE THAT!!! But its nice to be on the same floor as the kiddos br's. The basement is fabulous too. Its like we have a 3 story house. Its all finished out with a spare br and an office down there. And there's still a large room for toys and tons of playing!! The kids are loving it!! Ethan kept saying "mom, I love it!! it has 2 sets of stairs!" Funny kid. I'll post pix when we get more settled in.

I'm hoping to be better about this whole blog deal but making no promises!! :)

Life Guidry style!!

So blog... my brain just freezes when I think of it. I love to read people's blogs but dont allow myself that much as it eats time from my day. Anyway, update... Ed's on the down side of school. The second half of the last semester starts next week. Excited and scared all at the same time!! Now the pressure of finding a
J O B to pay for all this school is gettin heavy. He's interviewing some, and has some fabulous leads. As for me I'm just trying to put it in His hands, if I think of it too much I just want to start forking my eyes out. Therefore, Heavenly Father....here ya go!! Oh, oh, oh!! Ed's a hand model too!! Yep you read that right, he brought home the business school brochure last night and he made the cover!!! He's actually more than a hand model, you can see a strong fabulous hand holding a studly business school card in focus and a blurry hot lookin guy in the background. Thats my man!! That alone should get him a whoppin awesome job!!!

Me...I'm in a biggest loser contest too and its sucking bigtime this year. Last year I lost 14 pounds in 12 weeks and won in our little group. But this year I'm teetering around the same 3 pounds of losing and finding. It sux!! I even gave up soda. I've actually gained weight by a couple of pounds. AAAAaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!! Suck, suck, suck!!! On the positive side I love church again for the most part. I have a great calling and work with some fabulous ladies. There's still plenty of drama but I'm trying to avoid it as much as I can. I quit church choir which makes me a bit sad but its worth it to be away from some of the crazieness. I'm also starting to do more hair which I LOVE!!

Ethan is doing awesome in first grade. His first grade play is "The cheese stands alone" and its next monday. I'm pretty excited to see my little pig( thats what his class is) sing about cheese. They've been working hard and it should be fun. I never thought I'd be such a softie but I totally am.

Lexi is loving pre K. She has some really cute little friends and is learning a ton. Its so different than when I was in school, these kiddos are learning so much so early. And they do great with it.

Zach attack is too fun!! He has such a fun personality. He loves church nursery. I dont know what was up with him but last Sunday he chatted up a storm in there. He usually doesnt talk at all at church. The ladies in there are fabulous though. I dont know if I ever want to be in a leadership role here. There are some really awesome people that I certainly wouldnt wanna follow.

So there we are in a nutshell!!

Snow day!!

So snow.... when I was a kid I loved snow. Could play for hours never feeling even slightly cold. My kids however did not get that from me, THANK GOODNESS!! LOL Thursday we woke to a beautiful snow covered Keller. It was about an inch deep and above freezing so being from Oklahoma I thought we were gonna be fine. We walked to school like almost every morning. It was snowing and getting deeper but not a lot and it was still just slush in the streets. I felt confident that the weather person was crazy for thinking we would actually get much snow. I after all have lived in Oklahoma and Texas all my life. Weather people have the hardest job here cause they warn and it never happens. Just the way it is here. Don't like the weather...wait a minute its gonna change. Anyway, it was still snowing and not expected by aforementioned weather people to stop til midnight at the earliest. So we get the school early release call and email and canceled school for the next day notice and I raise an eyebrow. But quickly dismiss it and get ready for our long weekend of playing in the snow. All excited for snow days. So it snowed....and it snowed....and it snowed....have I mentioned that I live in Texas. It was getting deeper and deeper. When we walked across the street to get Lexi it was about 6 inches deep. That was from 8am til 11 am. We played for a bit and Lexi and Zach decided they were done with frozen fingers and went in. By 2 pm it was about 8 inches deep. I'm totally shocked at this time. Never in my life has it snowed for this long and this much at the same time. Its usually melting by this time. Anywho, so ya get the point....SNOW!!! We played for a bit and the kiddos were just so done with it. Poor Zman wouldn't even use his hands to get up. He'd just use his puppy dog eyes and whimper a little and someone would come running to pull him up. It was actually kinda cute. The snow ended up being about 10 to 12 inches deep. CRAZY!!

I actually learned a valuable lesson about jeans in all this snow play. I may look fabulous in my low rise skinny jeans but they are absolutely not for playing in the snow. The old, ugly mom jeans are perfect. Everyone should go out to goodwill now and buy one pair of mom jeans for playing with kids in the snow. Polly plumber was mooning everyone!! The moon may be cute to my sweet hubby but not necessary to show to the world!!

stuff..yada, yada, yada

So there hasn't been a post in like a fort night but we are still living. Life as a first grade, pre k and 2 year old mommy is a bit busy. Dealing with public school and all the joys of living in Tx seriously take a lot of time. (patience, endurance and soda) Although like some kind of crazy person I have given up soda for 10 weeks.......gasp!! Hopefully by then I can handle not getting my daily hit. Thanks Dr Oz and Angela G for ruining soda for me. Now when I do have some I feel total guilt. Anyway, enough about my crazy self.

Ethan is a stellar first grader. He's doing great in school but me, yeah I'm not doing so well. I love his teacher but the art teacher may get some tacks in her chair before the end of the year. His music teacher, who by the way seems very sweet, actually sent a note home yesterday saying that Ethan wasn't paying attention in class. That he was making noises in class and that she was worried about him not learning the songs for the play. WHAT?!?! A six year old boy not paying attention in class....does this even ever happen? Obviously not....she has clearly never seen such a thing. Not exactly sure what she expects me to do from here 5 hours after the incident but we did have a few conversations about respect and paying attention and yada, yada, yada...blah, blah, blah. Poor kid....I totally sound like Charlie Browns teacher to him I'm quite sure. He still manages to like school a lot even though he is the only six year old boy in the history of this elementary school that doesn't pay attention in music. K....hopping off the soap box for a few secs.... Michael Jackson is a fave and beat it and thriller are being sung more than I ever heard them in the 80's. BTW...this MJ deal is absolutely not my fault. His PE teacher teaches the kiddos stretches and this is the music she chooses. Its really cute though I must say. He knows the words better than I did in the 80's.

Lexi is totally loving school. She has grown up so much in the last few months. She's super smart and loves to read books and play and, and, and.... She's also 4 so she turns into Cybil randomly. Never fear though, she goes right back into that sweet little people pleaser almost as fast as she went out of it. She's really a lot of fun.

Grand Master Z on the other hand is hilarious. He's always cracking us up. He is now into Star Wars. He has light saber wars almost hourly. He will let you kill him first then you must be killed. Falling on the ground and all. I have started tongue wagging and dying noises as I fall lately which brings him great joy. He's a moose!! He and Ethan can wear the same size except in length. He loves nursery at church. In fact sacrament is lame in his world he get there and instantly wants to go to nursery. Ethan liked nursery fine and Lexi was okay with going but Zach LOVES it. He's quite the puzzle stud in there too. I'm not just braggin either, his teachers tell me how fab he is often. Its funny, people tell me that he looks like me when he's out with just me but when Ed's there they all say he looks like a mini Ed.

Ed is doing great in school. I'm sick of school but it really hasn't been that bad. 2 years has gone pretty quick. That being said if he even thinks of school again he will be walking around with whatever I can get my hands on to throw at him stuck in the side of his head. Just saying!!

So that's a quick catch up, I'll do better I promise.

So yes little blog...you havent been even so much as opened in like months. Well, I just gotta say......STEP OFF!! I really admire people who do this whole blog deal but I dont even have time to read blogs lately. With the people around here for the most part its just the brags anyway....LOL, I crack myself up!!!! Oh yeah, and I totally forgot my password. That helps to remember those little details. :P So take that little blog, I have loads of fabulous pix but they must wait for now.

3~09

We had a great spring break. We decided to do something fun everyday since we couldnt go to Okla. The first day we planned to go see the dino tracks in Glen Rose, I had heard alot about this place but we hadnt done it yet. The kiddos were so excited to go there. I called my gf Amy on the way and she FAILED to mention the scamosaurus attraction that we did first. Its not really her fault I just like to blame her. All the way there you keep seeing all these billboards advertising Dino World(shoulda been the first tip off) but the whole town seems to really take this dino deal serious. Now the tracks are there and all but everything in the town centers around a dino theme. The small town. It was just kinda funny to see all the uses of dinos. Anyway, after driving for what seems like hours *wink, wink* we finally round the corner to Dinosaur World. We've seen the sign....we're here....finally!!! We pull in and it seems a little commercial but hey, we're not driving anymore. Lets stay!!! We get in line to enter(cause thats what everyone else is doing) and when we get up there Ed says its a little more expensive than the website said but hey....we're not in the car so we do it anyway. By a little more expensive it was like $40 more. Kinda funny. But we had just driven forevahhhh and were not getting back in the car.

Very sunny day!!
My Lexie lou who

Lexie as lunch

Well after we realized we had been duped by the tourist attraction instead of the actual dino tracks we played, ate our picnic lunch and headed on to see what we had actually intended to see. It was literally about 100 feet to the real entrance of the state park. In our defense....it was around the corner and we had been in the car forevahhhhh. lol Worth $50, not so much but hey the kiddos had fun and I'm always in for that.
Here are some of the real tracks. Its a neat place really. You get to climb into a riverbed and cross rocks to see them. The kids LOVED that part. They really wanted to play in the water which we did for a bit. It was cold but the kiddos dont feel that, I still remember going on trips with gma and gpa to Colorado and "swimming" in the streams as much as they would let my crazy kid self.

The next day we went to Southlake library for storybook time. Thats a treat because mommy wont usually brave something like that 3 to 1. 2 on 3 is doable. The Southlake library is fabulous like every little thing in Southlake. When we got home we attacked the garage. Yes, I was cursing Garth....not because he had any crap in there because he has been at every garage cleaning ever and he was in Utah that day. Suck!! Our garage is so nice now, even without Garth's expertise we did it. While we were cleaning, a guy stopped to ask if we were getting ready for a garage sale and we of course were so he came back and bought $100 worth of our junk!! We love that dude. And he came back on the saturday and bought more. He really does like our junk!! ;)
Wednesday was set aside for the half price day at the zoo. I mentioned it to another person at Jazzercise the day before and she said she had done it last year on half price day and it was crazy so we were a little nervous about going but hey, we can do it!! So we get in the van all packed and ready with snacks and water and camera and everything else we can think of and we're off. We get literally about 10 minutes from home. Solidly on hwy 35 which is the devil's hwy in case none of you knew that. It is!! Anyway, we hit a monster traffic jam. Typical for that hwy!! So we sat, and we sat, and we moved 2 feet and we sat. This went on for about an hour. Fun for the whole fam lemme tell ya. After about an hour and a half of inching our way to Ft Worth zoo Ethan has to use the bathroom. OF COURSE!! So after I wipe the "no way are we getting off this hwy right now sucka, we'll never get back on again!!" look off my face. I look at Ed and say "we lost babe!! lets go to Keller Pointe instead!!" They have a fabulous indoor pool with lazy river, waterfalls, kids areas and a fabulous loopy slide!! We had so much fun!! The kiddos love to swim and Ethan is addicted to the slide. When we finally got home we were beat. We all slept soooooo good that night.
Thursday daddy got to go see all his Wamuians. I was still beat so I did Jazzercise and came home and just hung out with the kiddos. We ended up going to target, to make it fun I got some wonka candy. I can bribe Ethan with wonka anytime. He'll sit still in church for some wonka action. Its his crack. ;)
Friday was a movie day with daddy. Lexie and Ethan love to go to the feater(as Lexie would say) and watched Bolt. They all loved it. We now own it and watch it almost everyday. Ethan reenacts (is that the right word? jump in my head please and figure it out!!) the movie with doggy stuffed animals as much as possible. I have to say that better so far than listening to him sing...chewing, chewing all day long. He loves him some Violet from Charlie and the choc fact. Me? Not so much!!
Saturday was the garage sale but I had already commited to set up at Jazzercise so Ed had to go it alone with 3 kids. No childcare in saturdays. The kids did awesome. There were a few tears but overall it was great. Ethan was the greeter and would so graciously thank everyone. He also was a great salesman. He tried to sell everything to anyone. It was really cute. We sold all our big stuff and alot of little stuff too. Whatever didnt sell went to goodwill so that I didnt ever have to see it again.
We had a fabulous spring break!! I wish we coulda seen family but it was nice to not really have a schedule for an entire week. We have a great little family and all love being with each other. My kiddos rock!! My hubby is hot and he rocks too!!

Ethan is outa the will!!

descriptive hat day at school, Ethan's hat was creepy
The storybook parade, Ethan's book was Green Eggs and Ham

So, a few years ago when my sweet first born first started really talking I started getting him to say certain phrases before I give him something. The usual please and thank you, well I sooooo enjoyed this little moment that it turned into........Okay Ethan, who's the best mommy? from me of course.....then Ethan would chime in...You are mommy!! It was awesome!! So that worked so well that I really kept going with that one, Who's the prettiest mommy in the world? answer... you are mommy!!! All excited and cute. So today he really wanted a certain snack. Of course I begin my usual interrogation about how fab I am and he was smokin his way through the questions UNTIL I got to the prettiest mommy in the world. Yep, he almost lost his treat today for sure. He is all excited as he yelled Aunt Jessie is the prettiest mommy in the world!!!! What the.......did I just hear that right? LOL So I say, yes, she is pretty but who is giving you this fabulous treat my man? He looks confused. I say.....who's the prettiest mommy dang it. Being a perceptive little guy he immediately catches on to the whole mommy's the best game and of course receives his rewards. LOL He is really an amazing kiddo. Even if he does think aunt Jessie is the prettiest mommy in the world. He is reading fabulously and scored 100% on his reading test last week. He draws fabulous pix all day for me and now is labeling them too. GENIUS!! And so dang handsome!!

Ethan got to go to lunch in a Hummer limmo for a prize

Christmas 2008

I havent been in the mood for blogging lately but I think I'm back!! We'll see for how long, huh!! I'll try to go back before Christmas....Ok, so its near the beginning of Dec and we get a little knock at the door. I answer and no one is there. BUT, there are 2 bags with 6 boxes each of mac and cheese with a cute sign that says its from our secret friends. Well we get a little concerned because we're leaving for Okla on the last day of Ethan's school. If someones doing the 12 days for us, which is way sweet by the way, we'll miss about half of it. Somehow, our secret friends knew we were leaving and they doubled and tripled up on days for us. They were very creative and generous!! They totally knew our kids and what they liked. It was really fun. We got some cuddly blankets, oreo cakesters, toys, dvd's and more toys and fun stuff!! Anyway, that was way fun. We left our fave (central mkt) homemade marshmallows and some fancy hot choc for them one night for getting out in the cold to leave us a fun surprise. Gotta keep the gift givers warm!! ;)

Anyway, we left for Okla after Ethan got out of school on Friday before Christmas and had an absolute blast!! Props to Terina and Dave and boys of course for letting us reside at hotel Darcey!! Sorry about the bird by the way!! (hehehe, still not sure how that happened!!) We spent tons of time with aunt Jessie and company. The cousins were so much fun and Jessie and I of course had a slammin time as usual. I think Ed was there too. I'll check the pix, LOL j/k!! We all had a great time. If you're on facebook I have a whole photo album but I'll add a few here too. The pix on the header are from Christmas in Terina's fireplace.

The day we left we had made Zach wait til we were driving to take his first nap hoping that we would make it half or most of the way there by the time he was awake. Well, he slept, and he slept......and he slept. He would wake up and go right back down. It was strange but we thought it was maybe he was just really tired. He's never really been sick so that never entered our little heads. Well, by the time we got to Jessie and Chris's house he was fevering, of course. Its right before Christmas and we're out of town. Ahhhhhhhh!! Zach is totally a daddy's boy so when he's sick he only wants Ed. He was clinging to Ed like a spider monkey. As the night went on it was painfully obvious that he was more just a cold and being shy. Ed takes him the next morn to an emergency clinic(thank goodness for daddy!!) I slept in with the other kiddos! Zach had his first ear infection. It was so bad that the doc couldnt tell if his ear drum was perforated or not. He had so much gunk coming from his ear. Poor baby!! Anyway, $80 and no insurance later we got a fat bottle of the pink junk that heals anything and we were set. He was his cute self again almost right away!! Yeah for pink smelly meds!!

We had decided to do Christmas there but for Santa to also visit Texas too. So we got all the small fun stuff there and when we got back here Santa set up a huge bounce house in the living room for when the kiddos came in the living room it was like a mini jump for fun!! Ethan was the first to find it. He was so excited to get in and we had the balls that aunt Leona got for Zach inside. Aunt Leona rocks!! Overall we had a fantastic Christmas. Its awesome to have a long Christmas break with our fam!!

Here's a few pix....if you want to see more check out facebook. If you're not on facebook yet...sign up, dang it!! Facebook rocks!!

Puter's suck!!

I'm not sure exactly why when I try to do something on the computer without Amy that its a total disaster but I have now been trying to change the background template for 30 minutes. It still defaults to Christmas so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Maybe by next Christmas I'll have it figured out.;)

Twilight......

Ok, I guess everyone has seen the movie that wants to by now. I have seen it twice and would go again probably. I loved it. I know it was different than the book on some parts but I still quite enjoyed the journey. Edward Cullen is HOT!!! I'm just sayin.... I thought he did a fab job playin my fave vampire. Oh, and he was HOT, HOT, HOT!!!! I loved all the actors except for the chick that played Rosalee. I thought they coulda picked better on her for sure. She was not what I had pictured. Anyway, that being said. I loved the movie!! Yes, I will own it. And I am stoked that they are making the next book into a movie. Although my personal opinion is that they should combine New Moon and Eclipse with a huge amount of book/movie time devoted to Eclipse. Eclipse was my fave book of the series. New Moon was my least fave but if we gotta do it to get to Eclipse then we gotta do what we gotta do!! I have some more pix of the crazy movie midnight experience from Amy I just gotta figure out how to post them from my email. The fact that I can find and post pix out of our pix is a pure miracle. Anyway, Amy and I went to Mi Chula's my new favorite place to eat. Its so awesome. We took a pix there but I did some weird thing with my hand so I look like I'm deformed. Not sure what was up with that. Then we went to the theater for a loooooooonnnnnggggg sit~n~wait. We were sandwiched between some die hard Twilighters and some chicks that had not even heard of the books until about a month ago. SACRILEGE!!! They prob thought we were nuts!! They were all really cute though. The group in front of us were way into it. They had video of the kid that played Edward from the Galleria mall when he came. They were cute and giddy. The group behind us was fun too, one of the chicks leaned over to me and said " we shoulda brought a flask" LOL I am such a party animal!! As time got closer to theater entry the crowd got restless. It was fun to be with all the nutty kids and feel young again with all the teeny boppers. When they finally let us in all the people in front of us were jumping and running in screaming so we of course had to join in. The theater worker was cracking up at us. Once inside and seated the countdown began. About every 3 minutes another update on time was announced by someone. Along with a time update a girl would also announce that she wanted to have Edward's baby. I kept my mouth shut that I already have 3 of Edward's babies. I left out all neener neener neener's. ;) All in all it was a fabulous chick night. You can go back to my last post to click on Amy's blog to see pix if I dont figure out how to edit and add pix. I really gotta learn more about this whole picture deal. Anyway, I have said all this to say......if you didnt like the movie, keep it to your dang self. LOL I would recommend reading the book first. Sometimes the movie sux and the book is better but in this case for me I loved both in their own way. And........EDWARD CULLEN IS HOT!!!!!

Oh, I forgot. You know how we made shirts. Ok, ok Amy made my shirt and hers......hey, I stood there and wiped the sweat and was cute and sassy as usual. That takes serious effort!! So anyway, Amy has a fabulous shirt!! It said Team Edward in very fancy bling bling letters. The problem was/is she is very well endowed. LOL So her shirt looked like it said Team DWAR!!!!! LOL Bwahahahahahaha!! Amy is so fun!! We had the best time flashin our bling bling chesty shirts around for Edward!!

Ethan's first kiss!!

So last night was literacy night at Ethan's school. Ed took the young 'uns to Mc D's and Ethan and I headed over for stories and fun, fun, fun!!! lol It actually was fun. The stories were fun and the teachers were so cute all dressed up. Anyway, McKayla was the only other kiddo from Ethan's class that was there so they were connected at the hip. He adores her and vise versa. She is sweet. Anyway, while I was talking to her mom and the crossing guard I looked over just in time to see McKayla kiss Ethan!! She was so embarrassed that I saw her but it was so cute that I hadda give her a wink. She has impeccable taste in men!!! It was a fabulous moment, I got some shots with my blackberry so if they come out I'll post em. I gotta figure that one out.

Brook's 5th

Our cousin Brook had a princess party for her 5th birthday. Lexie of course wanted to be sleeping beauty. (her dress is pink after all!!) Lexie is all things pink lately. It was fun but Lexie had a little bit of a hard time sharing her cousin with the other girls. Lexie was also the youngest there too and so she did her shy thing.
Lexie and Brook and aunt Lauren in the background
making the cute tiara hat
Watching Taylor teach us all how to dance like a Princess!!

.....and then when I went in to check on Ethan at bedtime this is what I found!! I cannot wait to use this pix someday, some glorious day!!!!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAAA!!!!

Today I am grateful!

Today my heart is heavy. Duane Summers lost his battle with cancer on Monday and this whole week has been so strange for me since that. Now I was never close to either Becky or Duane but until we moved to Tx 4 years ago I always admired their family. And it was neat to see their family grow. Becky always seemed like the most pleasant mommy and Duane seemed like a great daddy too. It was about a year ago when Jessie called me to tell me to kiss and hug my hubby and be grateful that he is healthy. I have always been really grateful to have such a great hubby and not really sure how I swung that one!

Becky and Duane's story has made me appreciate my family so much more. The one thing that I think of every time I used to see them was at one of Jessie's kiddo's bday. I had to work so Ed took Ethan over to play. I think they had 5 kiddos then but I'm not sure. Anyway, Ethan was about a year old. He has always loved to be around kids so it was a great place to be. Duane pulled Ethan around Jessie's living room in a box forever from what I heard. Duane loved kiddos and babies. Anyway, I guess I have said all this to say that I am grateful to have known Duane even the little bit that I did. I think he was a great man and I know that he will be missed and loved forever. Their journey has been a tough one but it has made me stronger and better. So today I am grateful to be me and to have and incredible family that loves me and that I love more than words can say.

Halloween

This has taken a long time to post for reasons that I shouldnt make public. LOL ;) Our kiddos love Halloween I think more than Christmas. We have started a tradition of driving at bedtime for about 30 to 45 mins 3 to 4 times a week to see all the fun decorations. We do Halloween and Christmas. So the season of driving at night is not over yet. The funny thing is that some of the people go all out and really do some fun stuff but unless they have an inflatable......well, my kids arent even a little interested. I'll say isnt that cool, look at.....and before I get it out of my mouth Ethan has stated the obvious that they dont have a blowup so we must move on!! He is so funny.

Our ward(church group) had an excellent party for Halloween. We had it in a 300 year old barn that was shipped here from NY somewhere. It was beautiful. Typical Colleyville. lol Although in my years growing up in the Oklahoma countryside I had never seen a barn this beautiful. Not really sure how functional it was as a barn 300 years ago. Maybe it was restored, I dunno. Anyway, it was gorgeous!! Ed was a chili cook off judge. He was the cutest and best judge there!! Of course. The kiddos loved the whole night. Ethan dressed as an oompa loompa, he is obsessed with the original willy wonka. Lexie wanted to be a ballaweeena. I love the way she says it. And Zach was Charlie Brown. Zach has such a cute round face so Charlie Brown was perfect for him. We used the same costumes for trick or treating too. I worked forever on Ethans oompa loompa costume.

~~~~~~~~~~~~oompa loompa's would be jealous if they saw him~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ such a cute balleweeeeena!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Also while trick or treating we ran into 2 of our fave sitters!! So we hadda get a pix!! They are so sweet and the kiddos love em!!

I'm not sure who spider man is but i love that he stopped to get a pix with strangers. Anyhow it was a fabulous week of Halloween fall activities. The fall's here are so fabulous by the way, it almost makes it worth it to endure the hot summers.;)
